The appearance of fleshy bumps at the anal opening is due in large part to hemorrhoids. Both internal and external hemorrhoids, or mixed hemorrhoids, may form fleshy bumps at the anal opening and are generally not significantly painful. External hemorrhoids are caused by varicose veins that form a varicose mass at the anal opening and appear as a fleshy lump that is soft to the touch and does not have a distinct foreign body sensation or a feeling of swelling or pain. Acute attacks will present with symptoms such as pain, grooves in the stool, and difficulty in defecation. Internal hemorrhoids or mixed hemorrhoids are also not painful under normal circumstances, but will feel higher than normal when touched by hand. When the meatus becomes engorged with blood, it will be elevated in hardness and produce a feeling of swelling. In terms of treatment, the main thing is to keep the anal opening hygienic, wash the area frequently after defecation to ensure smooth and soft stools, and avoid over-stimulation of the intestines and hemorrhoid surface causing breakage.
