Tonifying the Middle Jiao Qi Tang is from “Discussing and Confusing Internal and External Injuries”, a class of formulae for tonifying qi. This drug has the effects of tonifying the middle Jiao Qi (treating Qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen) and elevating Yang and lifting the sunken organs (elevating the Yang Qi of the organism in order to lift the sunken organs). It is generally used clinically to treat weakness and tiredness, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, loose stools and uterine prolapse caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach, as well as fever, shortness of breath and spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by the slightest movement of sweating) caused by qi deficiency. Patients with yin deficiency and internal heat (internal heat arising from deficiency of yin fluid) should not use this medicine. Prompt medical attention is recommended for any related symptoms. Patients who need to use the medicine should consult a TCM physician to ensure the safety of the medicine.
