How to treat geodesic

The method of correction of geodesic depends mainly on whether it is odontogenic geodesic or osseogenic geodesic, and the treatment method is different for different reasons. If it is odontogenic, it can be corrected by outpatient orthodontic treatment, which will also yield good results. If it is a mild bony geodesic, it can also be corrected with orthodontic appliances, which may take a longer time. In the case of moderate or severe bony ingrowth, a combined orthodontic-orthognathic treatment is usually required, where the orthodontist first performs the alignment of the teeth and then the oral and maxillofacial surgeon performs the jaw surgery, i.e., a Lefort I osteotomy, a sagittal split osteotomy of the lower jaw, or BSSRO, and a chinplasty of the chin to achieve a complete treatment of the ingrowth.
