For scalp trauma, tetanus injection is recommended. Tetanus is caused by exotoxin produced by tetanus bacillus that invades the wound, the bacteria is anaerobic and does not grow easily in open wounds, whether or not to inoculate depends on the wound condition.
1. If the wound is superficial (e.g., mild abrasion, mild bruise, etc.), and the instrument or object that caused the injury is relatively clean, and there is no anaerobic environment after surgical disinfection and debridement, tetanus inoculation is generally not necessary, and regular dressing changes are sufficient. Of course, in that case, active tetanus inoculation is also consistent with the need for safety.
2. If the wound is deep, bleeding, or long and narrow, or if the wound is shallow but contaminated by the wound-causing instrument or object, it is necessary for the doctor to determine whether there is a tendency to infection, and to administer tetanus vaccine within 24 hours.
