Can a 5-year-old child’s nearsightedness return to normal?

If myopia occurs in a five year old child, the first step should be to go to a regular health care facility for a dilated eye exam. After dilated optometry, if the myopia is true myopia, it cannot be normalized. If the myopia is pseudomyopia, it can be recovered, which can be helped by resting the eyes more, relaxing the eyes, and performing visual function training. Myopia can be categorized into axial myopia and refractive myopia according to the nature of refraction, and most people have axial myopia. Axial myopia is a form of myopia that occurs when parallel rays of light pass through the refractive system of the eye and focus in front of the retina due to the growth of the eye axis. If a five-year-old child is truly nearsighted, the eye axis has lengthened, and this lengthening of the eye axis cannot be normalized. Just like a child’s height, it cannot get shorter after it grows taller. Therefore, the myopia of a five-year-old child cannot be restored if it is diagnosed as true myopia.
