Six-month-old babies may spit up due to improper feeding, cold abdomen, intussusception and other reasons.
1. Improper feeding: Due to the small capacity of the infant’s stomach, which is horizontal, the lower esophageal sphincter is more relaxed and the pyloric sphincter is more developed. If you swallow a lot of air by feeding too fast, feeding too much milk, changing milk formula frequently, or crying for a long time before feeding, you can cause spitting up.
2. Cold abdomen: It may be caused by clothes not covering the abdomen, fan or air conditioner blowing cold air on the abdomen, etc., which can stimulate the stomach and intestines to contract and spit up.
3. Intussusception: It is an intestinal obstruction caused by part of the intestinal tube and its mesentery being trapped into the lumen of the intestines to which it is connected and causing obstruction to the passage of intestinal contents. The patient may initially manifest as reflex vomiting, containing milk and food residue, and later may contain bile, and in the late stage may vomit fecal-like liquid, accompanied by jam-like stool, indicating intestinal obstruction.
Six-month-old babies spitting up may also be caused by other reasons, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in a timely manner, in accordance with the doctor’s instructions for treatment, to avoid delaying the condition.
