How long can a woman have intercourse with an IUD?

Normally, a woman can have sex two weeks after the IUD is placed in the uterus. There may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding and mild abdominal pain symptoms during IUD placement, its caused by irritation with the IUD and there is a small amount of endometrial damage. Therefore, intercourse is not recommended just after IUD placement. Sexual intercourse is not recommended until the position of the IUD has stabilized, the vaginal bleeding has disappeared and the abdominal pain has disappeared about two weeks after the placement of the IUD. Women of childbearing age who do not want to get pregnant for a short period of time and need strict contraception can go to the hospital for IUD placement at this time. Because the IUD is a better method of contraception, the effectiveness and success rate of contraception are higher. You can go to the hospital to have the IUD placed about three days after your period. In addition, it is important to note that patients must take oral anti-inflammatory drugs to prevent uterine infections after IUD insertion.
