What’s wrong with involuntary leg shaking at night?

Unconscious leg shaking at night while sleeping cannot be ruled out as restless legs syndrome. The clinical manifestation of restless legs syndrome is a spontaneous, intolerable and painful abnormal sensation in the lower limbs, most commonly in the gastrocnemius muscle, and occasionally in the thighs or upper limbs, usually symmetrical. Patients often complain of crepitus, tingling, burning, pain, or itching in the deeper parts of the lower extremities. The patient has an urgent and intense feeling of wanting to move, and this leads to hypermobility. Symptoms occur at rest and are partially or completely relieved by activity. In severe cases, patients need to get up and keep walking to get relief, and most patients suffer from periodic limb seizures during sleep.
