The age of onset of the disease is over 40 years old, and 2/3 of the patients occur between 50 and 70 years old. Early symptoms of esophageal cancer are often not obvious and easily neglected, which may even delay the disease to the late stage. It is not difficult to detect esophageal cancer if one has basic knowledge about the disease and is alert to the symptoms. Early symptoms of esophageal cancer can be as follows: 1. Choking sensation when swallowing food: usually caused by swallowing dry rice, steamed bread and other food in a big mouth. This symptom can disappear on its own, but it can reappear after a few days or weeks, and then the number of times will increase day by day and the degree of choking will be aggravated gradually. 2.Painful feeling at the back of the sternum and the fossa of the heart when eating: this feeling often occurs when swallowing, and the nature of the pain may be burning, pins and needles or friction-like pain. When swallowing rough, overheated, irritating food (such as chili peppers, strong alcohol), the pain is aggravated, and the pain disappears after swallowing. This kind of pain is relatively mild and less frequent at the initial stage, but it can be gradually aggravated and recur later. About 50% of early esophageal cancer patients have this symptom. 3. Sense of foreign body in esophagus: Generally, there is such a feeling when swallowing, but some patients feel that there is a foreign body in esophagus without swallowing, as if there is food residue adhering to the wall of esophagus, although there is no pain, but they feel uncomfortable. Therefore, where the age of 40 years old and above, especially men, have the above performance should be noted, go to the hospital for examination.
