Does it hurt to remove the uterus?

Uterine evacuation is a colloquial term that usually refers to negative pressure suction for abortion or when there is residual embryonic material in the uterine cavity after delivery or miscarriage, which requires surgery to remove it. The procedure of abortion requires dilatation of the cervix first, and after dilating the cervix, a suction tube is used to attract the pregnancy material using negative pressure. Finally, the uterine cavity has to be gently scraped with a spatula for 1 week to check whether it is clean or not. Generally speaking, this procedure does not cause much pain to the patient, and if the procedure goes smoothly, it is relatively short and can usually be completed in a few minutes. During the procedure, the patient may feel a sensation of lower abdominal distension or vague pain, which is well within the tolerable range. However, if some patients are particularly fearful, overly nervous, and have a poor tolerance for pain, they can choose to have a painless abortion, which is performed under intravenous anesthesia, without the patient feeling any pain. As long as it is a surgery, there are various complications and unavoidable risks, and the abortion procedure is harmful to women’s health, especially the uterus. Women who do not require fertility should pay attention to contraception to reduce the damage to their bodies from unnecessary cleanings.
