Squamous cell carcinoma is also called epidermoid carcinoma. If it is detected early and the cancer has not yet invaded the basement membrane, it can be completely cured by surgical excision. However, if squamous cell carcinoma is detected late and the cancer cells have already crossed the basement membrane, then there is a possibility of metastasis. In this case, surgical excision alone is more likely to recur, and chemotherapy or radiotherapy is needed. If you suspect that there may be malignant lesions on the skin, it is recommended that you go to a regular public hospital as soon as possible to see a dermatologist in person, and if you are not sure, you should first have surgery to do pathology to further clarify the diagnosis.
