How to identify problems with your child’s height

1.Based on the initial judgment of growth rate: the growth rate of infancy (under 3 years old) is less than 7CM per year, the growth rate of childhood (3 years old-prepubertal) is less than 5CM per year, and the growth rate of puberty is less than 6CM per year. 2.Based on the judgment of height: Referring to the height standard table, the height is lower than the average height of healthy children of the same age by 2 standard deviations (-2SD) or below the 3rd percentile of the growth curve. It is short stature. There are some causes of children’s unsatisfactory height, such as parents’ short height, prematurity, history of birth injury, intracranial infection, trauma, infection, anemia, heart disease, renal insufficiency and other diseases, but these are not the causes of short stature. 4. Hospital auxiliary examination: mainly bone age, thyroid function, pituitary MRI, growth hormone stimulation test, and chromosome examination if necessary. If necessary, chromosome examination will be done.
