Methods to check for H. pylori

There are more methods to check for H. pylori, and there are two types: invasive and non-invasive. Invasive tests mean that a gastroscopic biopsy must be done to detect it. Non-invasive tests refer to blood draws, stool retention or breath tests. Urea breath test is commonly used, including carbon 13 breath test and carbon 14 breath test, followed by stool antigen test, and also blood sampling can be checked for molecular biology genes. Invasive testing methods are commonly used for rapid urease tests, and histological tests, i.e., taking biopsies and doing pathological histology for anti-H. pylori. If a culture plus drug sensitivity test is required, a culture plus drug sensitivity test can be performed. There are also molecular biology methods, i.e. genetic testing.
