What does the common term “bone fracture” mean?

When we understand the definition of fracture we can clearly know what bone fracture is all about. Bones are mainly composed of cortical bone and cancellous bone. In the case of the long bones of the limbs, the middle part is mostly cortical bone, while the ends are cancellous bone. When the continuity of the cortical or cancellous bone is interrupted by external forces or pathological changes, it is clinically referred to as a fracture. There are many classifications of fractures, such as complete or incomplete fractures, stable or unstable fractures, simple or complex fractures, simple or comminuted fractures, etc. A fracture is a form of incomplete fracture. So of course a bone fracture is a fracture, only to a lesser degree. This type of fracture heals faster and has a better prognosis because the continuity of the bone is partially interrupted and there is no displacement.
