Site of puncture of the femoral vein

The femoral vein is a common puncture procedure in the emergency department. The puncture site is located in the femoral triangle within the bone cavity, where the inguinal ligament is found, and the femoral artery is found near the bottom of the inguinal ligament, and a vein is felt on the medial side of the femoral artery, which is the more obvious vein of the body where the femoral vein is located. A line is drawn between the anterior superior iliac spine and the pubic symphysis, and the femoral vein is found on the medial aspect of the femoral artery, and the intersection of the medial aspect of the femoral artery and the line of the anterior superior iliac spine is where the femoral vein is located. If you look for the femoral vein puncture in children, the location is relatively superficial, but for elderly people with relatively little subcutaneous fat, the femoral vein and the femoral artery are not easy to find as they are closer together, and the artery with stronger pulsation is the femoral artery when touched, and the femoral vein is near the medial side.
