What does late deceleration mean?

Late decelerations are those in which the fetal heart rate decreases after the contractions have ended, usually below 110 beats per minute or less. Late deceleration means that deceleration occurs after contractions and deceleration means that the fetal heart rate is below the normal range. Late decelerations indicate the possibility of intrauterine hypoxia in the fetus and should be corrected as soon as possible. Firstly, oxygen should be administered to the pregnant woman to increase the oxygen flow. Secondly, stop the intrauterine contraction drip or other methods of stimulating contractions. Again, improve the position to reduce the pressure on the fetus. After taking the above methods, observe whether late decelerations occur again. If late decelerations occur frequently, it indicates that the fetus has severe intrauterine hypoxia and the pregnancy needs to be terminated as soon as possible. If the fetus is in the second stage of labor, vaginal assisted delivery can be performed. If the fetus is not in the second stage of labor, a cesarean section should be performed as soon as possible to terminate the pregnancy.
