How long does one survive after removal of the stomach in advanced gastric cancer?

After surgery, the overall survival period of advanced gastric cancer is about 1-2 years. Advanced gastric cancer means that the tumor of gastric cancer has been relatively large and there may be many lymph node metastases, including possible peritoneal metastases, and so on. After surgery, patients may have tumor recurrence or metastasis within a short period of time, and the more common ones are lymph node metastasis. At the same time, peritoneal metastasis, such as metastasis in the pelvis or in the wall of small intestine, can easily occur, and patients will have pain, abdominal distension, ascites, and incomplete intestinal obstruction. Therefore, if patients have abdominal pain and malnutrition, enteral and parenteral nutritional support should be provided when necessary, because the improvement of nutritional status of patients can also prolong the survival time.
