The statement “can cirrhosis be cured by taking Chinese medicine” is not accurate. Cirrhosis belongs to the category of accumulation, bulging and jaundice in Chinese medicine, which is considered to be caused by deficiency of qi and blood stasis, and phlegm and turbidity internal obstruction. Under the guidance of a doctor, taking Baoyuan Tang, Xuefu yiuxu Tang, and Artemisia Scutellaria Bile Cleansing Tang may alleviate and improve the progress of the disease, but they cannot cure it completely. 1. Baoyuan Tang: Its function is to benefit Qi and warm Yang. It can mainly treat deficiency and laboriousness, deficiency of vital energy; together with dry ginger and ginseng, it can tonify the deficiency of spleen and stomach, deficiency of spleen and stomach (spleen and stomach weakness and cold), and alleviate cirrhosis caused by deficiency of qi. 2. Hematopoietic Stasis Relieving Tang: Its function is to activate blood circulation and eliminate blood stasis (promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis in the body), and to move qi to relieve pain (relieving pain by regulating the body’s qi). It can mainly treat the evidence of blood stasis in the chest; alleviate liver cirrhosis caused by blood stasis. 3. It can mainly treat Shaoyang damp-heat and phlegm-turbidity syndrome; relieve cirrhosis caused by phlegm-turbidity internal obstruction. The above mentioned Chinese medicines can relieve cirrhosis at some level, but cannot cure cirrhosis completely. We should not use medicines blindly on our own, and should remember to follow the doctor’s prescription and use medicines for any disease.
