Can’t you do heavy work in membranous nephropathy?

Patients with membranous nephropathy are usually not recommended to do heavy work. Membranous nephropathy is an autoimmune disease, which is mainly manifested by massive proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, edema, hyperlipidemia, renal function impairment and so on. During the onset of the disease, proper attention should be paid to rest, prevention of infection and so on. Therefore, patients with membranous nephropathy are usually not recommended to do heavy work. Those with stable disease can have moderate activity to prevent venous thrombosis, but heavy work is not recommended. Even when the disease is in clinical remission and the urinary protein has completely disappeared, it is not suitable to do heavy physical labor because overwork may lead to recurrence of the disease as well as secondary infections. Although patients with membranous nephropathy are not recommended to do heavy physical labor, but in remission, they can do appropriate exercise, such as walking, jogging, and also can do some simple housework. Patients with membranous nephropathy are advised to go to regular hospitals in time and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of doctors.
