How long can you live with myocarditis?

The prognosis of myocarditis varies from person to person, and most patients are completely cured after aggressive treatment without affecting their life expectancy. Only a small number of patients with severe disease may lose their lives in a short time due to complications. In the case of viral myocarditis, with early diagnosis and early standardized treatment, the patient can usually be completely cured without affecting the patient’s quality of life or life in the future. However, in the case of acute severe fulminant myocarditis or if the patient himself is combined with other chronic diseases, life may be endangered at any time and the mortality rate is higher. Also, as the symptoms of myocarditis are controlled, there may be sequelae of severely impaired myocardial function, heart enlargement, intractable arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, etc. Some patients may lose their lives due to heart failure after 2-3 years. Therefore, once myocarditis is diagnosed, patients are advised to visit the cardiovascular medicine department of a hospital in a timely manner, and a treatment plan will be formulated by a professional doctor according to the individual patient’s condition, and regular review will be paid attention to.
