Piperacillin sodium tazobactam sodium is a compounded penicillin antibiotic, consisting of piperacillin and tazobactam together, the former is a broad-spectrum semi-synthetic lactam antibiotic, which acts as a bactericidal agent by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall; the latter mainly prevents piperacillin from being hydrolyzed by enzymes.
