What to do about 6mm lung nodules

Lung nodules of 6 mm are generally followed up periodically, with surgical resection if malignant nodules are highly suspected. Clinical guidelines have a set of guidelines for lung nodules <8mm. For nodules without risk factors for lung cancer (including smoking, family history, history of chronic lung disease, etc.), 4-6mm nodules, 12-month imaging follow-up is performed, and if the nodule size and morphology are stable, annual routine follow-up is performed. For 4~6mm nodules with risk factors for lung cancer, 6~12 months and 18~24 months imaging follow-up, and annual routine follow-up if stable. For highly suspected malignant lung nodules, surgical treatment was feasible, and postoperative pathologic examination was performed. Most of the lung nodules are benign nodules, and it is recommended to seek medical attention and follow the guidance of specialized doctors for standardized treatment.
