Treatment of common urinary stones

Urinary stones include kidney stones, ureteral stones, bladder stones and urethral stones. The so-called “prostate stones” are not included. Tests necessary before treatment of urinary stones: abdominal plain film (KUB), intravenous pyelogram (IVP), ultrasound or CT. Treatment: extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), percutaneous nephrolithotripsy, ureteroscopy, and open-type surgery.
