Mycoplasma pneumonia can cause fever, cough and phlegm. In Chinese medicine, it is mainly caused by wind-cold shutting down the lung, wind-heat offending the lung or phlegm-heat congestion of the lung. If the disease is caused by wind-heat attacking the lung, it can be treated with Ma Heng Shi Gan Tang. If the disease is caused by phlegm-heat congestion of the lung, it can be treated with Qing Qi Hua Phlegm Tang. Because of the long duration of mycoplasma pneumonia, it also tends to cause symptoms of lung yin deficiency, which can cause dry cough and little phlegm. It can be treated with Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang, and also with Chinese herbal medicines such as Fresh Bamboo Li Oral Liquid, Snake Bile and Chuan Bei Liquid, and Blue Scutellaria Oral Liquid. If the symptoms are more serious, it also needs to be actively treated with macrolide antibacterial drugs, mainly Azithromycin, Roxithromycin and other drugs.
