The ways of transmission of FMD include direct contact and indirect contact.
1. Direct contact: foot-and-mouth disease is a zoonotic infectious disease, and domestic animals such as pigs, cows and sheep are the main animals affected by the disease. For human beings, if they are in direct contact with the excretions or secretions of the diseased animals suffering from foot-and-mouth disease, it may lead to the infection of foot-and-mouth disease virus, which will make them suffer from the harm of foot-and-mouth disease.
2. Indirect contact: If you inhale dust or droplets containing the virus, or directly ingest water and food contaminated with FMD virus, you may eventually be infected by FMD.
Animals with FMD are the main source of the disease, and animals carrying the FMD virus in the incubation stage are the most dangerous source of FMD infection. Since humans can also be affected by FMD, individuals should be aware of the disease and seek medical attention as soon as possible if they suspect that they are experiencing symptoms that look like FMD.
