Hydrothorax (accumulation of fluid in the thoracic cavity) is categorized as Hanging Drink in Chinese medicine. Wu Ling San can be used as an adjunctive treatment for hanging drinks caused by the stagnation of water-dampness and the failure of yang to transform qi (blockage of the body’s qi).
Wu Ling San is a proprietary Chinese medicine composed of Poria, Poria and Atractylodes macrocephala. This product has the effect of warming Yang and transforming Qi (warming the Yang Qi in the body), inducing dampness and promoting the movement of water. It has therapeutic effect on edema caused by Yang not transforming Qi and stagnation of water and dampness, and the symptoms can be seen as dysuria, edema and abdominal distension, and diarrhea. Its adverse reactions, contraindications are not clear.
From the viewpoint of the efficacy and action of this product, Wu Ling San can warm yang and transform qi, promote dampness and move water, and it has a certain auxiliary absorptive effect on hanging drinks caused by yang not transforming qi and stagnation of water and dampness. However, this drug does not have the effect of completely curing and completely discharging pleural fluid.
This drug needs to be used under the standardized guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner under the guidance of diagnosis, and should not be used on its own.
