The sciatic bone is located primarily underneath the buttocks and a common body marking of the sciatic bone is the sciatic tuberosity. The sciatic bone is located underneath our buttocks and it, along with the ilium and pubic bone, make up the hip bones of the body. There are left and right pairs of sciatic bones, each of which has two parts: the body of the sciatic bone and the branch of the sciatic bone. The body of the sciatic participates in the lower posterior part of the acetabulum, the body of the sciatic extends posteriorly downward into the sciatic branch, and then the lower back of the sciatic branch is the sciatic tuberosity. The other common anatomical structures are the sciatic spine, the greater sciatic notch, and the lesser sciatic notch. The most common surface landmark of the sciatic bone is the sciatic tuberosity, which is the bony part of the buttock that can be felt under the skin when we sit down and come into contact with a stool. When discomfort in the sciatic node area occurs, it is recommended that you seek medical attention and follow your doctor’s instructions.
