Can newborns drink honey water

Drinking honey water is not recommended for newborns, because the gastrointestinal function of newborns is weak and not fully developed, so the main food for infants within 4-6 months is human milk or veterinary milk, and veterinary milk includes cow’s milk, goat’s milk, horse’s milk and other formulas. If the baby is artificially fed, a small amount of plain water can be consumed between feedings. If the baby is exclusively breastfed, in principle, there is no need to feed water. So newborns are not recommended to drink honey, because honey contains high sugar content, easy to cause endocrine metabolism abnormalities, resulting in blood metabolism disorders. To feed reasonably, gradually add complementary foods when the baby is 4-6 months old, slowly transition, so that the baby’s gastrointestinal function is gradually perfected.
