How long does it take to recover from a retinal concussion

Recovery of vision and recovery time after a retinal concussion depends on the degree of damage to the retina, and usually takes about 1-2 weeks to recover. A retinal concussion is usually caused by trauma or impact to the eye. When the external factors are too strong, it is easier to cause the retinal cells of the eye to be stimulated, retinal edema occurs, so that the patient’s vision is reduced. Some patients are given glucocorticosteroids, such as prednisolone and other drugs to relieve retinal edema as prescribed by the doctor, and generally vision can be gradually restored in about 1~2 weeks; some of them have macular pigmentation disorders, and their central vision is obviously reduced and cannot be restored. If ocular trauma leads to severe contusion of the retina, it will lead to permanent loss of vision, which cannot be cured. It is recommended that patients with retinal concussion go to the hospital for timely examination to clarify the cause and then follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
