Why calcium supplements are not recommended for infants

Calcium supplementation is only recommended for infants with calcium deficiency. It is not recommended for infants without calcium deficiency, as it may cause constipation, calcium toxicity and hypercalcemia. If you feed enough breast milk and formula milk, the calcium in it can satisfy your baby’s body growth demand, so parents don’t need to take extra calcium supplements, otherwise it may cause constipation, calcium toxicity and hypercalcemia. Therefore, if infants are not deficient in calcium, parents are advised not to take extra calcium supplements, but to take infants outdoors for sunbathing and to ensure daily intake of dairy products. If night terrors, excessive sweating and rib margin ectropion occur, parents should go to the hospital for evaluation and examination, and treat the symptoms promptly.
