The usage and dosage of Mealybug Pill varies according to different literature. It can be taken one pill at a time to be contained, or twenty pills at a time, and after taking the medicine, it is sent down with Sangbai Pi Tang, Tao Ren Tang, or Mutong Tang. It is recorded in Volume 10 of “Three Causes of Extreme One Disease Certificate Formulas” that Mealybug Pill has the efficacy of moistening the lungs and relieving cough, and can be used for treating prolonged coughing and loss of voice, and accumulation of labor and disease. This product can be taken at any time with one pill contained at a time. According to Volume 65 of General Records of Sheng Ji (聖济總錄), Mealybug Pills can be taken 20 pills each time and sent down with decoction of Sang Bai Pi Tang (桑白皮汤) after food to treat coughing and wheezing (喘息喘促促气). In Volume 125 of the Records of the General Records of the Sheng Ji, it was recorded that mealybug pills taken with Mutong Tang could be used to treat galls and swollen plugs. It was recorded in Volume 31 of Sheng Hui that Mealybug Pills can be taken 20 pills at a time and taken with Tao Ren Tang to treat cough and thick saliva.
