What are the causes of hyperglycemia?

Currently, there are more and more diabetic patients, some families have several diabetic patients, family members understand what is going on with diabetes, and some patients are the so-called “long-standing disease into a good doctor”, and can guide the medication for other diabetic patients, which is a good thing for the popularization of diabetes knowledge. However, although the proportion of type 2 diabetes in diabetes is the most, but after all, medicine is very complex, inevitably encounter rare cases, such as type 1 diabetes or secondary hyperglycemia, if all according to the method of type 2 diabetes to deal with, the lighter delayed disease, the more serious life-threatening. Therefore, patients with high blood glucose should seek consultation and treatment from a regular specialist to avoid accidents. The following are the common cases of secondary hyperglycemia: 1. Glucocorticoid-related hyperglycemia: long-term use of glucocorticoids may lead to elevated blood glucose, this hormone is a glucagon, which can lead to insulin resistance, and may even induce the occurrence of diabetes. Some of them secrete too much glucocorticoids in the body because of certain abnormalities, which may also cause elevated blood sugar. 2. Acromegaly: Acromegaly is the excessive secretion of growth hormone in the body, which can lead to insulin resistance in the liver and muscles, stimulate liver gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis, and reduce the utilization of sugar. The onset of the disease is slow, and typical manifestations include thickening of the hands and feet, long and ugly face, widening of the gap between the teeth, enlargement of the tongue, and headaches. 3. Pheochromocytoma: Some patients with pheochromocytoma can have elevated blood glucose because these tumor cells can secrete substances called catecholamines, which can inhibit the secretion of insulin, increase the decomposition of liver and muscle glycogen, reduce the utilization of blood glucose, stimulate the decomposition of pancreatic hyperglycemia, and raise blood glucose through the above mechanisms. The above conditions are mostly manifested as mild elevation of blood glucose and less complications. Only by treating the primary cause of the disease can the condition improve.
