Astragalus has the effects of tonifying qi and promoting yang, benefiting Wei and consolidating the surface, inducing diuresis and swelling, generating fluids and nourishing blood, promoting stagnation and paralysis (to make the paralyzed meridians and veins smooth), supporting toxin and draining pus (to drain pus and poison from the body), and astringing sores and regenerating the muscle (to help sores to heal more quickly, and to promote the growth of new flesh). It can be used for conditions such as deficiency of qi, loose stools, prolonged diarrhea and prolapse of the anus.
Radix Codonopsis pilosulae has the effect of tonifying the spleen, benefiting the lungs, nourishing the blood and promoting the production of body fluid, and can be used in treating diseases such as poor appetite and tiredness, cough and asthma, and deficiency of qi and blood. This drug should not be used together with veratrum.
Red dates can nourish the middle Jiao, nourish the blood and tranquilize the mind, and can be used in the treatment of spleen deficiency with little food, weakness and loose stools (thin and unformed feces).
Chinese wolfberry can nourish the liver and kidney, benefit the essence and brighten the eyes, and can be used to treat soreness of the waist and knees and unclear vision.
