What diseases does itchy skin indicate?

Pruritus, is generally considered to be caused by skin disorders. The most common cause is senile pruritus, which is caused by the atrophy of the sebaceous and sweat glands due to decreased gonadal and endocrine function in old age, which makes the skin too dry, and the aging and metamorphosis of the nerve tip receptors distributed in the wrinkled skin, which sends an unusual stimulus signal to the center, causing pruritus. Other skin itching, especially obvious, persistent or recurrent itching, but without any first or concurrent rash, is mostly a signal of a variety of diseases, should be promptly to the hospital, early treatment, so as not to become a serious disease. Digestive system diseases are first seen in hepatobiliary diseases, including obstructive jaundice and hemolytic jaundice, which cause generalized pruritus due to increased concentration of bile salts in the serum and skin, stimulating the nerve endings. Pregnant women with endocrine disorders during pregnancy can cause “gestational pruritus”, which is caused by the rise of estrogen and progesterone during pregnancy and will disappear automatically after delivery. Pruritus occurs in about 10% of patients with endocrine system disorders “hyperthyroidism” and “hypothyroidism”, but there is a difference between the two: in “hyperthyroidism” pruritus appears earlier, while in “hypothyroidism” pruritus appears earlier. In “hyperthyroidism”, itching appears earlier, while in “hypothyroidism”, itching appears later and develops slowly. Diabetic patients because of elevated blood sugar, the body’s immunity and resistance to disease significantly reduced, more susceptible to bacterial, viral infections and induced itchy skin.
