The possible causes of chills after bile duct stenting include biliary tract infection, acute suppurative cholecystitis, malignant tumors and so on; 1. biliary tract infection: after bile duct stenting, the patient’s own compensatory ability is poor, and there are diabetes mellitus and other underlying diseases, the bacteria in the intestinal tract can infect the bile duct through the blood or intestinal upstream, releasing inflammatory mediators and endo-external toxins and other pyrogenic sources, resulting in chills in the organism. 2. Acute septic cholecystitis: bile duct stent may lead to bile duct epithelial cell necrosis, granulation tissue and fibroblasts to repair the tissue, resulting in bile duct blockage; or postoperative bile drainage flow is low, causing bile stasis in the bile ducts and gallbladder, and bacterial infection causing acute septic cholecystitis, with nausea, vomiting, chills and other clinical symptoms. 3. Malignant tumor: if the malignant tumor such as pancreatic head cancer cannot be radically resected and biliary stent is put in to drain bile and pancreatic fluid, the malignant tumor can grow indefinitely and cause bile duct obstruction, which will aggravate the chances of bacterial infection; at the same time, the tumor cells can also secrete pyrogen and inflammatory factor, which will affect the center of thermoregulation and increase the thermoregulatory point, so that chills will appear in the organism. There are other reasons for chills after biliary stenting, such as the patient’s own physical fitness, the presence or absence of underlying diseases, postoperative bile drainage, etc. are also risk factors. It is recommended that patients go to regular hospitals for further examination to clarify the cause and diagnosis, and standardize the treatment under the guidance of physicians to avoid delaying the condition.
