Early prevention for children whose parents have had dementia

Abstract: Some elderly people suffer from dementia after a stroke. In fact, it may not be Alzheimer’s disease, but vascular dementia. The two diseases are easily confused, and the direction of treatment and results of the two are different. ”Older people often have vascular lesions, and vascular dementia mostly occurs with the onset of stroke and can be mild or severe.” Its early symptoms are similar to those of Alzheimer’s disease, but differ in that patients often have a sudden onset with impaired limb movement. The course of the disease tends to progress in a stepwise fashion, meaning that it remains stable for a longer period of time, does not deteriorate or even gets better, and cranial CT and MRI show foci of ischemia or hemorrhage in the brain of varying degrees. To date, there is no method to completely stop the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, while vascular dementia can be partially or largely restored by appropriate treatment, accompanied by the recovery of physical activity impairment and intellectual impairment. If treatment of vascular lesions is neglected or delayed, the situation will get worse. 1, Recent memory deficit is the earliest clinical manifestation, and anxiety depression insomnia is often neglected. 2, parents have suffered from dementia, children do not “brain overwork” when they are young, more brain in old age. ”There are many risk factors for dementia, including advanced age, family history of dementia, cardiovascular disease, emotional depression, living alone, illiteracy and low education, lack of physical and mental exercise, long-term smoking, alcohol consumption, and over-eating fatty diets.” Doctors have not yet found a solution to stop the dementia process, but by changing some risk factors, the onset can be delayed and the disease process slowed. Children of parents who have suffered from dementia should prevent it early. Once the brain nerve cells are damaged, they cannot be repaired, so it is important to avoid overworking the brain when you are young, and not to be lazy when you are old. In addition, optimism and open-mindedness is an important treasure to slow down the aging process. It should also be reminded that elderly people with hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hyperhomocysteinemia and atherosclerosis should actively control their conditions to avoid cerebrovascular dementia caused by strokes. The elderly should prevent traumatic brain injury and have regular physical examinations. Participate in more exercises, and walk 30 minutes and 5,000 steps a day for mild cases. Scientific dietary arrangements can also play a preventive role. The elderly should avoid smoking, do not drink too much alcohol, three meals should pay attention to reduce salt and sugar intake, food to grain legumes, while the intake of high-quality protein such as fish, lean meat, eat more vegetables and fruits, but also control the weight. Tableware and kitchenware are not used to reduce the risk of aluminum poisoning affecting intelligence. Daily supplementation of 1000 international units of vitamin D3, 50 mg of coenzyme Q10 and 1000 mg of omega-3 can also play a preventive role.
