Is antiviral treatment available for hepatitis B

Nucleoside (acid) analogues (NAs) are mainly applied in the treatment of hepatitis B, both nationally and internationally. The 2015 edition of the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B states that the goal of “clinical cure” should be pursued as much as possible for some appropriate patients with chronic hepatitis B, i.e., after cessation of treatment Sustained virological response with disappearance of HBsAg, with ALT normalization and histological changes in the liver. Because of the immunomodulatory and cccDNA lysis effects of interferon, combination therapy with interferon is more effective in achieving “clinical cure”, i.e., HBsAg clearance, than NAs alone. In addition, the combination of interferon with NAs can reduce the incidence of drug resistance to NAs and improve the efficacy of existing NAs users. Overall, there is still a lot of room for interferon to treat hepatitis B. For hepatitis B, the antiviral duration of NAs or NAs combined with interferon is relatively long (usually 3 to 5 years). For patients with good viral suppression and progressive liver fibrosis, TCM has very powerful advantages against fibrosis and for anti-inflammatory liver protection, which can be combined with TCM or other drugs for anti-liver fibrosis treatment.
