The general charge for carotid ultrasound is$220. The examination of the carotid vessels is done by ultrasound, and the charge at a tertiary care hospital is$55 per pair of vessels. Carotid artery examination includes four pairs of vessels, namely, common carotid artery, internal carotid artery, external carotid artery and vertebral artery, on both sides, so the charge is 220 RMB. When examining the carotid arteries, we generally start with the common carotid artery, measure the internal diameter of the lumen, observe whether the intima-media is thickened and whether there is plaque formation, and if we see plaque, we should pay attention to the location, size, soft or hard plaque, and whether it causes lumen narrowing. If plaque is seen, the location and size of the plaque, whether it is a soft or hard plaque, and whether it causes luminal stenosis should be noted. The branches of the common carotid artery, the internal carotid artery and the external carotid artery should also be observed upward to see whether there is plaque formation and stenosis in the lumen. Finally, the vertebral artery should be examined to see if the direction of blood flow is normal. If there is reverse flow on one side, the possibility of subclavian artery stenosis cannot be ruled out.
