Recently, the problem of hepatitis C infection in hemodialysis patients has been widely concerned, previously, the general public is more concerned about blood transfusion and viral hepatitis infection, in fact, according to the current state of medical technology, the risk of viral hepatitis (especially hepatitis C) infection in hemodialysis is much greater than that of blood transfusion, it is generally believed that the infection rate of hepatitis C in hemodialysis patients is more than ten times higher than that of the general population. A conservative estimate is that the infection rate of hepatitis C in hemodialysis patients in China is more than 30%, and it is not surprising that the infection rate in some poorly equipped medical institutions is 50%. Therefore, when we see the recent news and media reports of hepatitis C infection rates among hemodialysis patients in some medical institutions, we should look at it calmly, both in terms of the possible management problems of the units concerned and in terms of recognizing that hepatitis C infection is indeed limited by the current hepatitis C treatment technology and the current status of hemodialysis technology. At present, the annual infection rate of hepatitis C in hemodialysis patients at home and abroad is as low as 5%, so not every infected person is looking for a statement from the hospital.
