Tetanus desensitization injection method

Tetanus antitoxin can be used in people who have developed tetanus or have suspicious symptoms, and is routinely used to prevent or treat tetanus. Since tetanus antitoxin is antigenic and may cause allergic symptoms, an allergy test must be done before the first use. If the test shows a positive result, treatment by desensitization injection is required, that is, diluted tetanus antitoxin is injected in small doses and in several doses for preventive and therapeutic purposes. Whether it is the first injection, or has been injected in the past to inject tetanus antitoxin again, allergy testing should be performed before injection. Dilute the tetanus antitoxin solution first, then inject it intradermally, wait 20-30 minutes and then observe whether the local skin is red, swollen, itchy, etc. If the above symptoms appear, the skin test is positive. Desensitization injection can be used to achieve the purpose of treatment, should be carried out under the condition of adequate resuscitation preparation, need to be divided into four injections of tetanus antitoxin original solution, each injection interval of 20 minutes, each injection needs to be observed for 30 minutes, no cyanosis, shortness of breath or significant shortness of breath, accelerated pulse and other symptoms, before the next injection can be followed. If some patients develop these symptoms, they should immediately report to the nurse or doctor and receive resuscitation as soon as possible. If the symptoms are mild, the desensitization injection can be completed after the symptoms have subsided and under the close attention of the doctor and nurse, the dose of injection can be reduced and the number of injections increased as appropriate according to the doctor’s recommendation. However, the use of tetanus antitoxin desensitization injection treatment has certain risks, so if the tetanus antitoxin skin test is positive, you can choose to inject tetanus immunoglobulin to neutralize tetanus toxin and play the role of tetanus prevention and treatment.
