The clinical term vaginosis often refers to bacterial vaginosis, which is mainly caused by Gardnerella infection. The clinical manifestations are increased discharge, yellowish color, and a great fishy odor of the discharge, which are characteristic of bacterial vaginosis and should be treated by giving metronidazole or tinidazole. It is recommended to rinse the vaginal discharge with 1/5000 potassium permanganate before inserting the metronidazole or tinidazole pessary for one week. Do not have intercourse or eat acidic, spicy or stimulating food during the period of medication. It is also best to boil the underwear and expose them to the sun to sterilize them.
