What tests are done for throat cancer?

Patients with laryngeal cancer need to undergo the following clinical examinations: 1) specialized examination of the throat, such as electronic laryngoscopy, CT or MRI of the throat, etc. 2) lymph node examination, such as ultrasound of lymph nodes in the neck to see if there are lymph node metastases in the neck. 3) If cancer in the throat is suspected, it is recommended to take pathological biopsy under local anesthesia with electronic laryngoscopy. 4) CT of the chest and ultrasound of liver, bile and spleen are routinely recommended to rule out distant metastases of lung, liver, bile and spleen, etc. Ultrasound of liver, gallbladder and spleen is recommended to rule out any distant metastasis of lung, liver, gallbladder and spleen, etc. If hypopharyngeal cancer is suspected, it is better to do esophageal examination when the patient has difficulty in swallowing and discomfort, because hypopharyngeal cancer sometimes easily invades the esophagus and metastases to the esophagus. In a word, if patients suspect pharyngeal cancer, it is clinically recommended to have a comprehensive examination under the guidance of a specialist to avoid the leakage of the disease.
