Throat cancer, why is early prevention advocated?

Laryngeal cancer, one of the most common malignant tumors of the head and neck, accounts for about 1-5% of all malignant tumors in the body. In terms of incidence rate, the incidence rate of laryngeal cancer in men is much higher than that in women, about eight times higher than that in women. As we all know, due to the rapid development of industry, there are many kinds of pollution in our living environment, such as air pollution, virus infection, sex hormones, lack of trace elements, radiation, etc. are the reasons for the occurrence of laryngeal cancer. In addition, the fast pace of life keeps people in a highly stressful state, smoking, drinking and occupational habits are also the reasons for the gradual increase in the incidence of laryngeal cancer. Due to the high incidence, high mortality rate and high treatment cost of laryngeal cancer, people have become more and more concerned about the prevention of laryngeal cancer. Moreover, data has been shown that 40% of laryngeal cancer can be prevented through healthy habits. What should be done specifically? First, smoking ban. Some studies have shown that people who smoke 40 cigarettes a day die from laryngeal cancer 20 times more often than non-smokers. And the longer the smoking age, the higher the incidence rate. In addition, nicotine, coal tar and benzopyrene in cigarette are carcinogens, and the smoke containing these carcinogens can directly damage the larynx tissue and cause laryngeal cancer. Secondly, ban alcohol or drink less. Long-term alcohol consumption will easily cause congestion and edema in the larynx and produce great stimulation to the mucous membrane, which will easily lead to the occurrence of laryngeal cancer when combined with factors such as bad influence and low immunity caused by alcoholism. Third, stay away from chemical and radioactive carcinogens. Chemical carcinogens related to laryngeal cancer include sulfur dioxide, chromium, arsenic, etc. In life, we should do a good job of protection and not to inhale the above harmful gases and dusts; in newly renovated houses, we need to open the windows and ventilate for a certain period of time before moving in, so as to avoid carcinogens such as formaldehyde and benzene to the organism; radiation is also an important carcinogen, so we should avoid radiation damage in general, otherwise it will create conditions for the formation of laryngeal cancer. Finally, it is recommended that we should be able to recognize the danger signs of laryngeal cancer – persistent cough, blood in sputum, hoarseness, progressive aggravation, foreign body sensation, discomfort or pain in the throat. In any case, once discomfort in the throat area arises, you should seek medical attention and treatment in a timely manner.
