It is not recommended that medications be taken after an interval of 3 hours; medications are taken 1/day, 2/day, 3/day, and 4/day. 1/day medications are taken 24 hours apart, 2/day medications are taken 12 hours apart, 3/day medications are taken 8 hours apart, and 4/day medications are taken 6 hours apart. If a drug is taken immediately after a 3-hour interval, it can result in a significant reduction in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic efficacy or cause a series of adverse drug reactions such as accumulation of side effects. Antimicrobials are taken at a maximum dosage of 4 times/day with a minimum interval of 6 hours. Taking them at 3-hour intervals can result in an adverse reaction of antibiotic overdose, can cause discomfort in the esophagus and digestive system, and can result in drug rashes or episodes of multiple adverse drug reactions.
