Summer use of air conditioning, beware of “air conditioning disease”

In the summer heat, many people like to work or rest in air-conditioned rooms, but they are prone to “air conditioning syndrome” or “air conditioning disease” in an air-conditioned environment for a long time. Air-conditioning disease is caused by nasal congestion, dry throat, dizziness, sneezing, tinnitus, fatigue, memory loss, dry skin, joint or muscle pain, etc. after using air conditioning. The wind blown out by air conditioners is dry, due to the inhalation of dry air, while the exhalation is almost saturated with moisture, so that the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract will be dehydrated; less clothing is worn in summer, and the bare skin will lose a lot of moisture even if it does not sweat; in addition, the dry air will shrink and damage textiles, flooring, plastics, wood of furniture, etc., releasing harmful formaldehyde gas, which can enter the human body through the lungs The body, leading to a decline in visual nerve and memory function, dizziness and other symptoms. Long-term in a confined environment, air does not circulate, resulting in reduced oxygen content in the air and increased carbon dioxide content, causing dizziness, forgetfulness, slow reaction, decreased appetite and other symptoms. If the air conditioning temperature is low, thin clothing, such a low-temperature environment will lead to joint pain in the limbs, cold hands and feet numbness; if the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor, often in and out will feel hot and cold, resulting in the body’s balance of the regulatory system dysfunction, which can cause headaches or susceptible to colds. Dry and cold air can easily lead to a decline in respiratory defense function; if the air conditioner is not regularly cleaned, it is easy to breed various viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms, and when the air conditioner is turned on, a large number of pathogenic microorganisms are blown out by the air conditioner, causing indoor air pollution; in addition, when using the air conditioner, the concentration of ozone that inhibits pathogenic microorganisms is reduced, and the above factors can easily cause respiratory tract infections, especially Legionella infections. The incubation period of Legionella infection is about 2 to 12 days, and the onset is often characterized by chills, fever, muscle aches, dry cough or little sputum, abdominal pain, diarrhea, chest tightness, etc. Severe cases can cause persistent high fever, progressive respiratory distress, and even death due to respiratory failure. In addition, the closed air conditioning room because of the lack of air circulation, dust, dust mites and other allergens concentration is significantly higher, people with allergies are prone to allergic diseases. In general, the elderly and frail, women and children and people with chronic heart and lung diseases are prone to air conditioning disease, the use of air conditioning requires special attention to prevent. Chronic heart and lung disease patients are mostly elderly, weak, poor cardiopulmonary function, air-conditioned rooms of low temperature, dry, low oxygen, high carbon dioxide, high formaldehyde air, the overgrowth of pathogenic microorganisms, these factors tend to cause air conditioning disease or lead to aggravation of the original disease. Since the use of air conditioning has so many harmful effects, what measures should be taken to prevent it? (1) sweating into the air-conditioned room, remember to change out of wet clothes first, dry sweat; often open the windows for ventilation to ensure convective exchange of indoor and outdoor air; room temperature should be about 24 to 28 ℃, indoor and outdoor temperature difference should not exceed 7 ℃; avoid air-conditioning cold air blowing directly against the body; best to put a basin of water in the room to prevent dry air. (2) When using air conditioning, the room should be kept clean and hygienic, bedding should be cleaned frequently, smoking indoors is strictly prohibited; regular cleaning of the air conditioner to remove dust and bacteria above, during the use of air conditioning, it is best to clean the filter once a week. (3) Avoid prolonged use of air conditioning, if long-term in the air conditioning room, should drink more water, eat more vitamin-rich vegetables and high-quality protein food, and participate in more physical exercise to enhance physical fitness. (4) The air humidity in the office should be 50% to 60%, and when sleeping in the bedroom, the air humidity should be 60% to 70%. Once you suffer from air conditioning disease, you can take patchouli water or drink some mung bean soup to treat it.
