Parallel eyelids are a type of eyelid shape that is called parallel eyelids because the eyelids are basically parallel to the upper eyelid margin. The eyelid line is designed so that the outer part of the eyelid does not exceed the outer corner of the eye. The eyelid line is designed so that the outer part of the eyelid does not exceed the outer corner of the eye. However, most Asians are not suitable for parallel double eyelids because of the differences in eyelid shape and tissue characteristics between Asians and Europeans. The breakdown lies in 3 main areas. First, the orbits of European and American eyes are deeper and wider than those of Asians, and the brow bones are higher than those of Asians. Also, the outer canthus of the Asian orbit is about 5-9 degrees higher than the inner canthus, which causes the Asian eye to look a little upturned. Secondly, the connection between the orbital septum and the levator aponeurosis is different in Asian and European eyes. As a direct result of these differences, Europeans and Americans have thin upper lids with deep, high lids. In Asians, this part of the eye is the exact opposite of Europeans and Americans, as the fusion of the orbital septum and levator aponeurosis is below the upper edge of the lid and in some cases close to the lid margin, so the orbital septum extends anteriorly to the lid and the intraorbital fat protrudes downward and forward. The fat pad of the eyebrow is thicker in Asians than in Europeans and Americans, and fills the entire eyelid area, preventing some of the fibers of the levator muscle from connecting with the skin in front of the lid plate, resulting in a full upper lid without a heavy lid crease in Orientals. The characteristics of our Asian eye tissues are very different from those of European and American eyes, and the highest priority for plastic surgery should be to understand your own tissues, stay true to your own tissues, and make choices based on your own tissues. However, not everyone is unsuitable for parallel large double, as long as they meet the conditions of European and American eye appearance, i.e. high brow bone and little upper lid fat, they can do parallel large double. Xinjiang people have eyes that are mostly parallel large pairs. Double eyelids should not be too wide, 5~7mm is most suitable.
