When should I take a urine protein test?

Urine protein can be checked either qualitatively with random urine or quantitatively with 24 hours of urine. Random urine, where the patient comes to the hospital at a random time to have a urine specimen taken, is a cursory screening test. The random urine test can truly reflect the presence of urine protein in the patient. If the test is abnormal, a further 24h of urine needs to be retained for quantitative testing. This means that the patient needs to collect all the urine for a full 24-hour period and mix it well to perform a specific quantitative test. It can measure the specific quantitative value of urine protein, the normal 24-hour urine protein quantification <150mg/24h, if this standard is exceeded, it often indicates the presence of increased urine protein content, often indicating the presence of kidney disease, and requires further treatment.
