Bone imaging is an intravenous injection of a radioactive substance to visualize the bones. The main side effects are twofold: first, the radiation obtained during an imaging test, such as CT or ECT, which is about 10 mSv. Secondly, the radioactive material, mainly from bone imaging, is present in the body and usually requires specific isolation for the first three hours and the urine excreted needs to be excreted into a designated urinal.
