Relief of foot sprain can be intermittent cold compress, ankle braking, the use of drugs and other methods.
1. In the acute stage of foot sprain (within 72 hours), you can take the method of intermittent cold compresses, wrapped in a towel with an ice pack placed on the affected area or cold water rinse the affected area. After 20 minutes of cold application, remove the ice bag and rest for an hour before applying cold compress. In the acute stage of injury, cold compresses can reduce capillary bleeding as well as reduce inflammatory exudation, thus cold compresses can relieve swelling and pain.
2. After a foot sprain, the ankle can be immobilized with a bandage or external fixation brace to reduce bleeding and exudation brought about by ankle movement and increase swelling, and at the same time reduce the risk of aggravation of the injury.
3. If the pain is severe, oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Loxoprofen sodium tablets, diclofenac sodium extended-release tablets, etc.) can be taken under the guidance of a doctor for pain relief and elimination of aseptic inflammation. After 72 hours of injury, safflower oil, etc. can be applied to invigorate blood circulation and remove blood stasis.
In the event of foot sprain, one should first go to the hospital to rule out serious injuries such as fracture and ligament rupture, and then carry out conservative treatments such as immobilization and cold compresses. In case of fracture and serious ligament injury, the treatment plan of the attending physician should be followed for further treatment.
