Patients can drink milk to help improve insomnia because milk contains tryptophan which has a sedative effect on the center and therefore has a sleep-aiding effect. Patients can drink a glass of warm milk before going to sleep. Milk is rich in high-quality protein and amino acids, and tryptophan helps the central nervous system to recover and may improve the quality of sleep. However, if the patient’s insomnia is severe, more interventions may be needed, and milk alone will not have a greater effect. Patients should clarify the cause and etiology of insomnia and intervene in as many ways as possible in order to effectively improve insomnia.
